Diagnosing Premature Ejaculation (PE)
The presence of PE is usually confirmed by the clinical history alone and often no formal testing is required. If a patient is able to attend one of our clinics we will usually perform a test called penile biothesiometry. This simple, painless and non-invasive test measures the ejaculatory threshold (that is the degree of sensitivity of the penis) of the patient by the use of an electronic tuning fork. A patient with PE typically has a low ejaculatory threshold. (Below) Biothesiometry studies from Premature Ejaculation.
